8/8- Monday Alex & Jordan started art camp at the VMFA. While the girls attended art camp, Kennedy & I headed to different local activities. This morning, we hit the childrens museum.
Then it was time to pick up the girls. Jordans class was studying art of the Pacific Northwest.
Alex had some mixed media work
then off they went to compare their art works...
admire some of the newest outdoor installations
Then head next door to the Va Historical Society just in time to catch the lunch story hour & explore the exhibits for a few minutes.
This was a pretty cool shadow movie "amputations"/ medical treatment during the Civil War.
Then it was time for the story/craft. This week was Henry's Freedom Box. I love the illustrations & gentleness in which this story is told.
They also had another activity table of primary sources (pictures) and asked students to put on sticky captions. I think I'm stealing this idea for my Civics class.
Last was a table with various period pieces for the kids to explore and ask about
and of course, dress up in some more.
