The summer is a time where I can pretend to be that stay at home, home-schooling mama I so envy the rest of the year. So, before school even ends I find myself trying to hunt down every local free activity and come up with various weekly "schedules". I'm thinking this summer we will spend about 2 hours in the morning- with mini- breaks, doing academics.
So far we've been using the following home materials in addition to various read alouds from the library, and weekly online challenges:
Suppose the Wolf Were an Octopus?
Singapore Primary Mathematics (about to start 1b) along with Shiller Math
Cursive handing writing practice (requested by Montessori school in fall)
GOD's Creation Series (science)
Our outdoors activities include:
biweekly art class here.
biweekly little explorers nature class here.
weekly harvesting for food bank/and horticulture here.
lastly, here's a quick video of Alex doing her first poem memorization from the First Language Lessons book. She had it memorized before the end of the day :) Download The caterpillar poem
She's so cute. It looks like she was enjoying herself. I've been using my little camera to film, is that what you did too? I found it to be easy compared to the cam corder, but it doesn't hold very much.
