We celebrated Earth Day in our favorite garden on Saturday. I knew we wouldn't have time to do much on the actual day (my father has been ill and we've been going there after work this week). On Saturday we had our first family workshop class and the day's topic was Soil. There was also an exhibit going on showing off early modes of transportation (AKA pollutant free transportation)
Separating dirt into the 4 layers: Gravel, Fine gravel, Clay, Silt & Sand (don't hold me to this, it was a couple of days ago now)
Documenting the different trees....
Looking for signs of animal life...
Creating terraniums full of moss, lichen and other goodies
Making a toad abode and nesting pine cone (you fill it with string the birds can pick off to build their nests)
Just exploring pine cones in general and basking in the warm sun.
Hope you were able to get out and enjoy Mother Earth too.
It looks like it was a lot of fun.
