I promise, every night I think about updating this blog. Even down to which pictures I'd post and some of the comments that would go with them...and every night I get pre-occupied with something else. Either
child-rearing, housework, or just reading other blogs. So, since my camera has reached it's maximum storage capacity, I am forced to download pictures and update this blog.
Here's what we've been up to for the last week and a half or so. (I'm not going to update this weeks until Monday.)
Alex's reading is getting better and better. Here is an example of our "whiteboard" reading that we may do throughout the day after our formal reading lesson has been completed. I circle the sight words so that doesn't try to sound them out.
we've also been doing more nature study. I bought a "most common birds in Va." trifold and we headed out to the park to try and identify some of the birds. I must say that we have been flooded with Canadian Geese around here and it's hard to find any ducks.
This past Friday (the 14th?) was Alex's last day at preschool. The kids put on a big performance at the school and we took lots of pics of her friends. The center is open all summer, but I prefer to keep her home in the summer and we do "homeschool". After the big performance, we had a small family dinner and started a new tradition- Back Yard end of school camp out. I didn't get any good pics of the campout, so I'm just posting the tent set up. We read books, ate snacks, and watched the moon. Daddy kept Jordan inside and we even had Aunt Jenny stop by and decide to join us in the backyard.
Here are a few pics. In my next post, I'll show you our summer schedule, and will better be able to share how this first week o f homeschool went.
I hope you enjoyed getting caught up on what we've been up to. I hope to post again soon.
